Throughout my undergraduate journey, I was honored to receive a total of $1,562 in awards—a reflection of the hard work and dedication I put into both my studies and extracurricular activities. Driven by my passion for community service, I also raised around $1,000 to fund impactful projects, contributing my time, resources, and skills to make a difference. These experiences have been deeply fulfilling and have reinforced my commitment to growth, giving back, and making a lasting impact.
As an undergraduate student, I was honored to receive the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Petroleum Division Award, valued at $1200, in recognition of my demonstrated academic excellence.
With little more than our determination and the support of a few colleagues, we began installing energy-saving bulbs around the campus, funding the project primarily through voluntary donations from students who embraced the vision. Our efforts raised over 500,000 Naira (approximately USD 300), which enabled us to light key areas, enhancing safety and accessibility. The project quickly gained recognition; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering commended our initiative, and the Chairman of the Association of Professional Women in Engineering (APWEN) offered partial funding 50,000 (USD 30), acknowledging its academic importance. Ultimately, the Vice-Chancellor also gave his commendation, further motivating me to continue exploring sustainable energy solutions that could bring about real change. The project positively impacted over 1,000 students, reducing theft and enabling study sessions well into the evening, which in turn improved academic performance and fostered a more secure learning environment.
Received a $300 Leadership and Management Scholarship, achieving Fellow status in the African Leadership Institute’s Learnali program
R/L; Engr Castro (Guest Speaker electrical/electronics engineering), Engr. Ifieme T. (Chairman, APWEN), Engr. Prof. Rhoda Gumus (Member Council of Engineering Regulation in Nigeria, Fmr. Dean of Engineering, NDU) and Technical secretary APWEN.
Dean’s Award for Engineering Innovation Solution March 2024
Honored with the sum of 3,000 (approximately USD 2) for dedication and hard work on my undergraduate thesis, recognized on World Engineering Day at Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island Bayelsa State.
I led a cross-university team designing and building a project, securing a grand prize of 50, 000 (equivalent $30) with Diaspora sponsorship. Gained experience working with a team to develop a project from start to finish successfully. I used my technical writing skills to document the process and produce comprehensive reports. I developed a better understanding of technical writing's importance in product development.
